These are some examples of our success stories.

Case 1

Roy (not his real name) was ordered to reside in the Home by the Juvenile Court in Nov 04 for 2 years for being Beyond Parental Control. Roy responded to his rehabilitation program especially in his education. He took his N level and O levels (13 points) while in MWH. After his discharge, he continued schooling and took his A levels in 2007.

Apart from that, Roy also volunteered to be an Emcee / host during the MWH annual dinner, Residents’ Day in Sep 2006 after his discharge.

Case 2

Adam (M/14) was admitted into the Home by the Juvenile Court in May 06 for theft. He took his PSLE in MWH in 2006 and was promoted to Sec 1 Normal Technical stream in 2007. With the guidance from his teachers, caseworker, staff as well as his parents, Adam managed to attained 2^nd position in class with an overall percentage of 71.7%. He was promoted to Sec 2 Normal Academic stream in 2008. Adam would be getting his Early Release soon. Adam shared that he has benefited a lot from the Home’s tuition programme which helped him tom excel in his studies.

Case 3

Jo (M/14) was admitted into MWH in Sep 06 by the Juvenile Court for Care and Protection. His mother is a single parent with 6 children and the family constantly struggles to support their everyday needs. Roy stopped schooling for 1 year in 2005 as he had to take care of his younger siblings after his grandmother passed away.

Following his admission into MWH, the Home appealed to have him re-instated in school and sit for his PSLE. At the age of 14, he repeated Primary 6 EM3 in 2007. While in the Home, Roy attended the In-house Tuition Programme and got help from his tutors for Maths and English. His recent results were very commendable as he became the Top EM3 Malay student in his school and promoted to attend Normal Academic stream in 2008.
