Reward and Punishment System is practiced to help modify residents’ behaviour. Types of Reward: Award of merit points for resident’s good behaviour. Residents who volunteers or helps other residents in daily chores, will be awarded with Bonus Merit points. The accumulated bonus points can be used to purchase items at Minimart @ MWH. Outings, meal treats, arcade games Special treats for excellent or improved school performance Awards given during Annual MWH Residents’ Day dinner to the following categories; - Most Outstanding Achievement Resident
- Most Improved resident in Academic
- Best progress resident in Holy Quran recitation
- Best Quran reader
- Best Sportsman
Weekend homeleave / extended homeleave for those residents who maintained their good performance or reached at commendable grade. Early release. Types of Punishment : Demerit points for minor infringements. Punishment ranges from extra daily chores and to do light duties after meals Forfeiture of weekend homeleaves Caning A breach action in the Juvenile Court.
3. Schooling - Residents get a chance to attend school during their stay in the Home. It is usually after 2 -3 months of stay in the Home, depending on the availability of a place in school. MWH normally arranges for a resident to resume studies to his school of origin, unless circumstance does not permit. 4. Classes in the Home Basic Literacy classes Preparatory PSLE and N level (Private) classes Religious classes
5. PODZ Mentoring programe In PODZ, resident is matched with a volunteer mentor 6 months before discharge and to continue the programme at least six months after their discharge from MWH. The one year programme includes befriending in individual, group and mass settings. It aims to provide positive role model and sustain their good progress. It is initiated by MCYS and MWH works closely with other social service agencies.
