| Mission of the MHCC |
|
Mission To promote and preserve the sanctity of the family, in which its senior members would have confidence to be accepted by the community. Family responsibility will not allow for older persons to have feelings of being an outcast and cared for in a residential institution instead. The objectives of the Muhammadiyah Health & Day Care Centre for Senior Citizens (MHCC) include ensuring day care and rehabilitation of older persons are more accessible by being positioned in the locality within easy reach. The Centre mobilizes medical, paramedical and other volunteers, religious bodies, and associations to provide basic nursing care and rehabilitative services. We are clearly conscious of the benefits for the caregivers when enabling the break from their care-giving duties and at the same time being aware that their loved ones are in good hands. MHCC promotes community interest and participation in the holistic care of older persons, including the development of health maintenance and health promotion programmes. Day care can provide older persons an opportunity to get out of their houses and be given both mental and social stimulation.
